2026.08 Test Assistant Changelog

  • Connects AI assistants like Claude directly to a running Unity or Unreal game — browse the API reference, HierarchyPath syntax, key codes, and console commands, and invoke any GameDriver API call through a single flexible tool.
  • Recursively explore an object’s properties, including nested structs and object references, as a browsable tree.
  • Parse an exported game-hierarchy file for offline exploration without a live connection.
  • Create custom virtual Unity input devices from the MCP tools.
  • Claude Desktop can now launch the MCP server directly in the background to access its tools, without opening the Test Assistant UI.
  • New command to export the connected game’s live object hierarchy to a file for AI-assisted exploration.
  • Native macOS builds (Intel and Apple Silicon) with code signing and notarization. The Standalone Test Assistant did not support macOS before this release; other SDK components already did.
  • Window size, position, and font size are now remembered between sessions.
  • Fixed the Connect/Disconnect button not reflecting the current connection state.
  • Fixed a crash when starting a recording without an active connection.
  • Fixed crashes caused by non-English locale number and date parsing.
  • Fixed the connection dialog not remembering last-used settings.
  • Improved reliability of process detection on ARM machines.
  • Fixed MCP integration not working correctly on macOS.
